What is the Bic Writing Instruments Recycling Programme?

Writing Instruments are simple tools that we use on a daily basis, whether it be at home, school or work. Thanks to BIC® and Terracycle®, it is easy to recycle them for free, which helps to protect the environment.

What you can recycle through this programme

You can drop off any of the following, regardless of brand:

  • All writing instruments (except for wooden pencils and chalk)

  • Pens

  • Felt tip pens

  • Highlighters

  • Markers

  • Correction fluid pots

  • Correction tapes

  • Mechanical pencils and eraser pens regardless of their composition.

Please note: Glue sticks, erasers, rulers or other cutting objects are not not recyclable through this programme.

Best practice for recycling

Be careful not to include glue sticks, erasers, rulers or other cutting objects as they disturb the recycling process.

What happens to the waste?

Once collected, the writing instruments are separated by material composition, cleaned and melted into hard plastic that can be remolded to make new recycled products. Click here to learn more about the recycling process.
