How does insulation work?
Insulation works by trapping dry air in lightweight, bulky materials. Think of it like a blanket for your house.
Insulation contributes to your home’s thermal envelope—the barrier that helps to keep your home a comfortable temperature year-round.
We install ceiling/roof insulation and underfloor insulation, ensuring your home is protected from heat loss in winter and excess heat during the summer. Ceiling and roof spaces are the main areas where heat is lost, so installing insulation can significantly improve the energy efficiency of your space.

Ground Vapour Barrier
A surprising amount of moisture is released from exposed soil, even when the ground doesn’t feel especially wet. If this moisture accumulates underneath a house, it can rise up into its structure. Ongoing dampness can cause damage outside and inside your home and affect the health of you and your whānau.
Ground vapour barriers are a simple solution to help keep your home warm, dry, and healthy.
A ground vapour barrier (or ground moisture barrier) is a thick black polythene sheet installed on the ground in enclosed subfloor areas to prevent rising damp; reducing moisture levels, mould, and condensation in your home.

Efficient, modern insulation is a must-have for buyers, and legally required for rental properties.
Year-round comfort
Insulation keeps your home warmer in winter and cooler in summer, for comfort all year.
Frequently asked questions
-
Heat escapes through the roof and walls of any building, and out of any gaps, tears or areas missing insulation. Heat loss increases dramatically when the temperature outside is lower than inside, as heat is drawn to cold areas. Good insulation makes homes more energy-efficient, comfortable and healthy. It makes homes easier and cheaper to heat, and adds lasting value to properties.
-
Insulation can be complicated. There are different materials, features and benefits on the market, and no one-size-fits-all.
We recommend that ceiling and underfloor insulation be installed professionally. Fill out the form and our team will organise a free assessment tailored to your home. -
As a partner of the Warmer Kiwi Homes programme, we can offer subsidies on insulation for eligible households across the Wellington region.
This can cover up to 100% of the cost of ceiling insulation, underfloor insulation, and ground vapour barrier supply and install.
-
Insulation degrades over time, especially insulation that is more than ten years old. Old insulation usually needs a fix-up, top-up or full replacement. Many homes in New Zealand are uninsulated or not insulated properly, for reasons ranging from pre-insulation building construction, low building code standards, poor quality materials or misunderstandings of building science.
Before the chill properly sets in, it pays to get ready. Don’t get caught out by the cold—here are some easy ways to keep your whare warm and dry.
