Across the Wellington region we offer:
Subsidies covering 90% of the cost of a heat pump (capped at $3000 including GST), and 100% for ceiling and underfloor insulation for low-income households through the new Warmer Kiwi Homes programme.

Bespoke packages for landlords and property managers
Warmer Kiwi Homes Programme
Additional funding from Budget 2020 for the Government's Warmer Kiwi Homes programme, means that, if you are a homeowner-occupier living in a home built before 2008 and you have a Community Services Card / SuperGold Combo Card or live in a low income area, we can help you save 100% on the cost of your insulation and 90% on heating.
Through us, this funding is available for homeowner-occupiers in Wellington City, Porirua, Kapiti Coast and Upper and Lower Hutt.
Insulation subsidy
The grant can cover the cost of your insulation, ceiling, underfloor and ground vapour barrier, supply and install.

Heating subsidy
This grant can cover the cost of your heat pump for the main living space, up to a maximum of $3,000.
The home must have properly installed ceiling and underfloor insulation or have been assessed by an insulation provider contracted to EECA who have said that insulation can not be installed.

What is a low-income area and where are they?
Deprivation 8, 9 & 10 zones are areas identified by the Government as low-income. We decided to do the legwork for you and put together this handy list of Wellington addresses that are in the low-income areas, and eligible for the funding. Due to the nature of the zones, often there are streets with just one side - or certain numbers - eligible. We can help with subsidies, free curtains and advocacy and support.
Curtains - If you have a Community Services Card or SuperGold card you can get free, lined curtains from Wellington Curtain Bank. Go to Free curtains to find out more.
Support and advice - If you have health issues related to a cold, damp home, you might be eligible for support through our Well Homes or Warm Fuzzies programmes. If you are, we can provide advice, advocate with your landlord for better heating and insulation and give you free heaters, curtains, beds and more. Go to our Support and advocacy page for more.
Free home energy assessments - If you own your home, and live in Wellington or Upper Hutt, you can get a free home energy assessment. We'll work with you to create an action plan which will help you create a warmer and more energy efficient home.
