We offer a range of healthy housing services to help households in the Wellington region live in warm, dry, safe homes.

Whether you’re a homeowner, renter, or living in temporary accommodation, our healthy homes team can help you and your whānau to live in a whare that supports your wellbeing.

We offer free in-home services for people living with low-income; from advice and advocacy to free items. Our focus is to give you a hand-up to improve your wellbeing, with home assessments, education, and advocacy.

Tiaki Mahana

Our Tiaki Mahana programme is for anyone living in energy hardship (unable to afford enough energy for your wellbeing). An advisor will come to your home and give you practical advice to make your home more energy efficient, warmer, and drier.

How we can help:

• Listen to your concerns

• Advise on energy usage and efficiency

• Give free items like lightbulbs and draught stopping

• Build an action plan

• Help you speak to your landlord/housing provider

Who is eligible?

Anyone in energy hardship is eligible for a visit. If you pay your own power bill (e.g. not in a rental with a fixed utilities price), you can fill in the form below for a referral.

Well Homes

Delivered with Tū Kotahi Māori Asthma Trust, Well Homes is a free service supporting whānau with child-related housing needs.

How we can help:

• Give tips and advice for keeping your home warm and dry

• Advise on energy usage and efficiency

• Give free items like mould cleaning kits, bedding, curtains

• Check your insulation, heating, and curtains

• Referrals for minor repairs, MSD, Kāinga Ora, other services

Who is eligible?

Well Homes may be able to help you if you are:

• Living in the Greater Wellington region,

• Living with low income, or are eligible for a Community Services Card,

• Have children living or staying in the home,

• And are experiencing a housing-related health issue
