You may be eligible for 50–100% funding on products that can make your home warmer in winter, cooler in summer and healthier to live in.

Why do I need a heat pump and insulation?

A warm, dry home is crucial for the health and comfort of your whānau. The World Health Organisation recommends a minimum temperature of 18°C for a healthy home. A warm home also discourages mould growth, meaning indoor air is healthier for tamariki.

Insulation is essential to keep heat indoors, and a heat pump is the most efficient and cost-effective form of heating. Together, these will ensure your home is warm, healthy, and cheaper to run.

More support

You might be eligible for support through our Well Homes or Tiaki Mahana programmes—whether you own, rent, or live in social housing. Eligibility is determined by a range of criteria.

You might be living with low-income, or either yourself or your tamariki have health issues related to a cold or damp home. Tiaki Mahana is open to anyone experiencing energy hardship, so even if you’re not sure if you fit the criteria, it’s worth reaching out to us to see what support we can offer you.

We can provide free, bespoke energy-saving advice and help you advocate with your landlord for better heating, insulation, ventilation and draught-stopping.
