Establishing a waste minimisation culture in school is an essential step to reducing its impact on the environment. Taking action in this space also creates exciting learning opportunities for young people.
Sustainability Trust's Your Sustainable Schools programme supports schools to establish a student-driven waste minimisation culture.
Up to 45 schools are invited to get involved across the 2018 and 2019 academic years. All available spots for this year have been filled, but you can still apply for the 2019 academic year - see below details and expression of interest form.

Your Sustainable Schools is a fully funded programme which may even include a financial contribution per school to help pay for the set-up costs for best practice waste systems e.g. signage, waste stations and compost bins.
The programme will be made available to 45 schools who are committed to improving their waste systems; 15 in terms three or four of the 2018 academic year, and 30 in 2019. We will include primary, intermediate and fully integrated primary/intermediate schools across the Wellington region.
Sustainability Trust will work with each school to assess suitability, timeframes and targets.
