Free curtains

Do you have a cold home and a Community Services Card? Wellington Curtain Bank can help.

We offer families who have a Community Services Card free, lined curtains for their living rooms.

If there are children, older people or people with health issues in the home, we can also make curtains for bedrooms.

Wellington Curtain Bank upcycles good quality curtains donated by the public to fit your windows and help you keep heat in, cold out and power bills down.

It’s easy to get free curtains:

1. Make an appointment with Wellington Curtain Bank by phoning 0508 78 78 24 x 705 or emailing curtainbank@sustaintrust.org.nz.
2. Download a window measurement form here, or give us a call and we can post one out to you.
3. Fill out the form. Here is a video which shows you how.
4. Bring the form and your Community Services Card to your appointment.
5. We’ll call you when your curtains are ready to pick up.

We also run regular mobile curtain banks to make sure people who don't have transport are able to access the service. Please check our Events page for upcoming curtain drives.

Wellington Curtain Bank is open from March 1 to November 30 each year. We take donations any time, but if you need curtains, please contact us during the open season. Opening hours when in season are: Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 9am to 4.30pm.
