Food & Beverage Carton Recycling Scheme

Food & Beverage Carton Recycling Scheme

Te Aro Zero Waste is a central drop-off for the Food & Beverage Carton recycling scheme.

What we can accept

Clean, dry and flat food & beverage cartons. The caps can be left on. These are otherwise known as liquid paperboard, or the type of carton that UHT or plant-based milk, juice boxes, stock etc come in. (with a green tick)

We can't accept

We can't accept any other packaging through this scheme e.g. glass. Check out our other reuse and recycling services for other things you can drop-off to Te Aro Zero Waste.

About the scheme

The Food and Beverage Carton recycling scheme is a voluntary, member-funded product stewardship scheme run by The Packaging Forum. It scheme was launched in January 2024 and covers the cost of our collection containers, collection from our centre and ensuring the cartons are responsibly recycled.

What happens to the cartons that are returned?

Cartons get collected from us by Earthlink and are then sent for product manufacture. The main product being produced is saveBOARD.
