Just Sew - December Edition + Furoshiki Gift Wrapping!
Got a tear, a missing button, or a hem that’s come undone? Don’t toss it - fix it! Our monthly Just Sew sessions are all about giving your clothing and textile items a second life. This is a great way to take climate action in your own life – and learn new skills along the way.
Book below and bring along 1-2 clothing or lightweight household items (cushion covers etc) for repair. We will have sewing machines, needles, thread, and a selection of patches and buttons ready for you. If you have something special you would like to use, feel free to bring it along.
Our skilled volunteers will be here to help with repairs such as holes, tears, hems and missing buttons. Whether you are completely new to sewing or just need a bit of guidance, we will support you through it.
These sessions are held at Te Aro Zero Waste on the first Saturday of every month, from 1-4 pm.
Bookings are necessary - click below to reserve your spot!
Seasonal Special: Furoshiki Gift Wrapping Station
To celebrate the season, we are also offering a Furoshiki Gift Wrapping Station! Learn how to wrap your gifts the sustainable way, using beautiful fabric scraps repurposed from the Curtain Bank.
A friendly volunteer will be on hand to guide you through the wrapping technique, so you can add a thoughtful, sustainable touch to your gifts this season.
No booking needed - just drop by during the event to give it a try. You can wrap a gift for a koha, or give a koha for the fabric you use.
These workshops are made possible thanks to funding from Wellington City Council, Nikau Foundation and support from Repair Network Aotearoa.
