Fairly Traded Clothing Swap 👜👖

  • Sustainability Trust 2 forresters Lane Wellington New Zealand (map)

When we think of ‘fair trade’ we often only think about things like chocolate, nuts, bananas and handcrafted bits and bobs we find at our local Trade Aid store.

While Fairtrade in the food industry is important, there is a whole other industry that is just as important - clothing.

For fair trade fortnight (22 February to 7 March), we’re hosting a social clothing swap where we will have pretty honest discussions about not-so-fair-trade in the fashion industry.

Of course, we will also have an epic clothing swap complete with fair trade treats and eats.

Our social clothing swaps are all about building community, reducing textile waste, thinking differently about our purchasing habits and getting a ‘new’ wardrobe 💅

How it works:

  1. Go through your wardrobe and pull out clothes, shoes and accessories that don’t work for you but might work for someone else

  2. Make sure they are clean and good quality

  3. Put them in a bag (max of 10 items)

  4. Be the first of 15 to secure your spot - $20 per person (complimentary drink + food included)

  5. Bring your items along to the clothes swap!

  6. Make new friends and go home with ‘new’ clothes.

On the night, our fashion facilitator will showcase each item to the group and you will be given an opportunity to say ‘HEY’ or ‘NAY’

Complimentary drink + snacks 🍷 🧀 are included in the registration fee + all profits go to our amazing Wellington Curtain Bank

This is a body-positive event
