Your Sustainable School

The successful Your Sustainable School programme started in Wellington is going nationwide. With help from the Ministry for the Environment, we’re offering free Train the Trainer workshops to help you roll out sustainability focussed, climate action, waste reduction systems at your kura/school or kōhanga/early childhood centre.

These 1-day workshops are for school staff, teachers and educators who are keen to lead the charge and be the change.

What you will take away from this workshop:

  • Knowledge and skills to roll out a waste reduction plan specific to your school or centre, including:

    • tools needed to get staff and students excited and engaged

    • everything to need to know, ask and say when liaising with your waste management providers

    • what to look for when measuring and reporting on progress

  • Strong connections with other like-minded people in your community

  • New or improved methods to deal with food scraps

  • Spending less on waste management

  • Changes to procurement and better opportunities for cafeteria suppliers and cleaners

  • Empowered students and teachers driving a culture of climate action at school, at home, and in the community
