Repairing rather than buying new is a great way to take climate action in your own life – and learn new skills along the way.
Come along to our final Repair Cafe for 2024.
Bring along your item for repair or maintenance - clothing or lightweight household items (cushion covers etc), small electrical appliances, welding repair, gardening tools for sharpening, or that general item you've been meaning to have repaired.
Our skilled volunteers will be here to assist you with fixes such as missing buttons, tears, holes, hemming, electrical faults, and general fix-up repairs.
These sessions will be held at Te Aro Zero Waste (Sustainability Trust), 2 Forresters Lane, Te Aro.
The afternoon is split into three one hour sessions for each repair category (1-2 pm, 2-3 pm, 3- 4 pm) with 8-10 spots in each.
Please take the time to provide us with the requested information when booking - this will ensure the triage process on entry, moves quickly.
At times, there may be a small wait before our volunteers can begin your repair. We invite you to bring your favourite book, check out our repair library, or meet a new friend while you enjoy some light refreshments.
For more information on H&S and the repair guidelines we follow, head to our website.
Whilst we would love to fix everything you bring to us we can't guarantee every item can be repaired (especially toasters - these have been designed in a way they are almost impossible to repair), we will give it our best shot!
Our welder Gill from Repcon, will endeavour to repair your item on the day however there may be the need for your item to be repaired back at Gill's workshop with collection from Sustainability Trust at a later date.
All our repairers are volunteers, please ensure they are treated with respect. Koha is encouraged.
We endeavour to offer advice and refer to local repair services and other repair events in the Wellington Region.
Bookings are necessary, donations welcome. All koha goes straight back to celebrate our community of generous volunteers.
These workshops are made possible thanks to funding from Wellington City Council and support from Repair Café Aotearoa NZ and Repair Café International.
Volunteers needed!
Are you handy on a sewing machine? Maybe you're a whizz at woodwork, an electrical extraordinaire, or tech savvy? We need you!
