Learn how to bokashi – a simple, small-scale composting method that lets you ‘pickle’ all food scraps, including cooked and raw meat, dairy, bones, shells, and citrus. - without nasty odours or pests! Perfect for anyone with a small garden, balcony, patio, or even just a concrete space.
Join Lydia from Pickled Compost for a fun, practical session that will give you the skills and confidence to bokashi successfully at home or in your community garden space.
Composting is climate action – it feeds our soils, reduces methane emissions, and keeps valuable food scraps out of landfill.
Participants will also receive a free sample of Pickled Composting Flakes to kickstart their own Bokashi composting at home!

If you live in an apartment, townhouse, or flat with no garden – and have a balcony, patio, or concrete space – Pickled Compost are looking for 10 households to trial the Pickled Compost System and urban food growing (May–Oct 2025)!
Participants in the pilot will receive:
- Pickled Compost Starter Kit (2 buckets, kitchen caddy + inoculant for 6 months)
- Soil factory set-up and food-growing containers
- Access to free workshops and ongoing support
- Discounted seedlings to help you grow kai at home
