Measuring your windows

We provide free curtains to families that need them.

Curtains significantly reduce heat loss through windows. But they way they are hung, the materials used, both make a big difference to how effective they will be.

If you do not measure your windows correctly, the curtains will not fit.

 

How to measure your windows

 
 

Measuring the width, length and drop

You must provide measurements for the width, length and drop for each window.

Measuring the WIDTH

To measure the width, measure across the window frame.

Starting from one side of the window frame, hold the measuring tape or ruler at the outside edge of the window frame.

Measure across the window to the opposite side of the window frame.

Measuring the LENGTH

To measure the length, measure from the curtain tracks to to the bottom of the window frame. If you do not have curtain tracks, measure from the very top of the window frame.

Starting from the curtain tracks (OR top of the window frame), hold the measuring tape or ruler at the top of the curtain tracks (OR window frame).

Measure down to the very bottom of the window frame.

Measuring the DROP

To measure the drop, measure the from the curtain tracks to to the bottom of the window frame. If you do not have curtain tracks, measure from the very top of the window frame.

Starting from the curtain tracks (OR top of the window frame), hold the measuring tape or ruler at the top of the curtain tracks (or window frame).
