Thank You, Phil. Welcome Georgie

Thank you, Phil. Welcome, Georgie.
Winston Churchill once said, “courage is what it takes to stand up and speak; courage is also what it takes to sit down and listen”.
Yesterday, we watched those words materialise as our head honcho, Phil Squire handed over the reins to our new head honcho - Georgie Ferrari.
Listening to Phil talk about his journey, what leading the Trust means to him, talking about his next steps, really solidified that it was a pretty pivotal moment for our organisation.
Just in case you missed our last post, Phil isn’t going very far. He’s moving into the office next door where he will run our new division focused on reducing energy hardship for New Zealanders.
Some people would worry about having the former CE working in the room next to the new CE, but as Georgie said “have you met Phil? Ten years as a Buddhist Monk. Easy”
Also, in her opening speech, she spoke about her ‘why’
“4000 days. We have 4000 days to stop the irreversible damage we are having on our ecosystems”
“It got me thinking about how I wanted to spend the next 4000 days”
“I want to spend the next 4000 (plus) days getting stuck in with an organisation with similar social and environmental values as me”
That said, we are excited and humbled to have Georgie and glad that we get to keep Phil.
Watch this space. Big changes are coming.
