Advocacy and support

Free advocacy, support and advice for tenants

If you're experiencing housing-related health issues, Sustainability Trust can help.

We offer free advocacy, support and advice for families who live in cold, damp homes.

Do you:

If you answered yes to most of the above, we may be able to help.

Both through our part in the regional healthy housing initiative Well Homes, and our own programme Warm Fuzzies, we can support you to create a healthier home for your family.

We visit the home to assess why it is cold, damp and unhealthy and then create an action plan which can help to improve it.

We can talk your landlord about better insulation and fixed heating, give you better heaters, curtains, bedding and give you tips on keeping the home warm and dry.

Health professionals and social workers can refer families to the service, but families are also able to self-refer.

If you or someone you know could do with support from Well Homes, call 0800 675 675 or email wellhomes@huttvalleydhb.org.nz for more information. If you're not eligible, they may refer to you to Sustainability Trust's in-house programme Warm Fuzzies.
