NEW DATE: Para Kai - Time to Grow

  • Miramar & Maupuia Community Centre 27 Chelsea Street Wellington, Wellington, 6022 New Zealand (map)

It might be time to say goodbye to the Para Kai home composting trial, but the best fun is yet to come.

You’ve done the mahi, you’ve squashed your old habits, and now it’s Time to Grow!

At this final community event, you’ll be joined by us and our pals at Kaicycle and Wellington City Council as we say haere rā to Para Kai and kia ora to growing food.

Are you ready to AVO go 🥑? Ready to find haPEAness in the garden?

LETTUCE 🥬 close the loop, take things full circle, and turn your food scraps into fresh new food.

We’ll have a kōrero about soil health, food resilience, and how composting can help grow community and restore our ecosystem.

We’ve also got a fun hands-on element where you will get to take the compost you’ve made, mix it with all the right bits and then plant a seed in it for you to take home.

The speakers who will be making an aPEARance 🍐 include:

  • Sarah from Seeds to Feeds - a community-based food growing festival.

  • Kate from Kaicycle on soil health, why composting is a game-changer for the planet and how to tell when your compost is ready to use.

This event is for those who took part in the Para Kai home composting trial in Miramar, as well as members of the public who are interested in composting and growing food.

This event is free, but we do ask that you RSVP.

This event has been brought to you by Wellington City Council, Sustainability Trust, Kaicycle, and Miramar & Maupuia Community Centre
