Degrowth: Learning to Live Within Planetary Limits

  • Sustainability Trust 2 Forresters Lane Wellington, Wellington, 6011 New Zealand (map)

Economic growth has improved living standards, but our current path is driving us towards ecological catastrophe. As we approach (or surpass) planetary limits and tipping points, how do we ensure a prosperous society without infinite growth?

To address this, degrowth supporters advocate for radically scaling back our global consumption of resources, and maintaining them at sustainable levels. This view challenges the assumption that growth is good, and it is gaining traction. But is it workable?

Join the Social Change Collective on Thursday 16th November at the Sustainability Trust in Te Whanganui-a-Tara for a kōrero about degrowth: what is it, why does it matter, how does it align with te ao Māori, and how can it help us achieve sustainability at a local, national, and systemic level?

Doors open at 5.30pm with the kōrero starting at 6pm.
