What is the Gillette Razor Recycling Programme?

Whether you’re a frequent shaver or not, there is a good chance you’ve come in to contact with a razor or shaver some time in your life. If you’re anything like us, you’ve probably wondered if there was a way you could recycle them.

The good news is that thanks to TerraCycle and Gillette, now you can.

What you can recycle through this programme

You can drop off any of the following, regardless of brand:

  • Blades

  • Razors

  • Razor holder/shower mount

  • Disposable units (cartridges and handles)

  • Replaceable-blade cartridge units

  • Rigid plastic packaging and flexible plastic packaging.

Best practice for recycling

Safety first - be careful with blades and just make sure what you drop off is clean and dry.

What happens to the waste?

Once collected, the blades, razors, and plastic packaging are cleaned and separated by material. Metals are smelted into ingots for reuse, and plastics are melted down and turned into pellets, flakes, and other usable formats that can be remoulded to make new recycled products, such as park benches and picnic tables.
