Come and get free curtains!

Come and get free curtains!

Last financial year, we provided the highest number of free, lined curtains ever to families with Community Services Cards. To be exact, we gave 2462 sets of curtains to 604 households! This year we want to reach even more!

If you have a cold home and a Community Services Card you might be eligible for FREE curtains.

All you need to do is provide us with window measurements for your homes main living and sleeping areas and our Curtain Bank crew will do the rest.

How it works:

  • Businesses such as Lewis's, West Plaza Hotel, and Capital Gateway Motor Inn and members of the public donate their pre-loved curtains to us.
  • The Curtain Bank upcycles these curtains, cutting and lining them so they are ready for their new home.
  • This process usually takes around six weeks.

Every set of curtains is different. Our Curtain Bank aims to give people sets of curtains that match, but this is not always possible.

How to get free curtains:

  1. Download a window measurement form here, or give us a call and we can post one out to you. If it's easier for you to fill out an online form, go to this page
  2. Fill out the form. Here is a video which shows you how.
  3. We’ll call you when your curtains are ready to pick up.

Wellington Curtain Bank is open from March 1 to November 30 each year. We take donations any time, but if you need curtains, please contact us during the open season.

Opening hours when in season are: Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 9am to 4.30pm.
