Curtain Bank

Curtain Bank logoWellington Curtain Bank is coming to Wainuiomata!

Families  who need curtains for their lounge and have a Community Services Card can pick up a  form from  Wainuiomata Community Centre.

Wellington Curtain Bank is going mobile and bringing the service to Wainuiomata for ONE WEEK ONLY – 15-19 May. Get a form from the Community Centre and return the completed form by Wednesday, 9th May. We’ll then call you to set up an appointment to come get curtains.

Curtain Donations can be dropped off at the Wainuiomata Community Centre during the week of 14-19 May also. Outside this week, please see drop off locations below.

Curtain Bank goes to Porirua!
For the second time, Wellington Curtain Bank will be at the Fanau Centre in Cannons Creek. Pick up a measurement form and return it to the Fanau Centre by Monday, 21st May. We’ll arrange for you to pick up your curtains during the week of 28 May to 1st June.

Sustainability Trust runs a free curtain bank for low income households. If households don’t have curtains in their lounge, they can apply for free curtains. If  residents also suffer health conditions related to the cold, or have young children, we will also endeavour to curtain the bedrooms.

Fitted, lined curtains provide as much insulation as double glazing. They are a simple way of improving a home’s ability to retain heat and keep occupants healthy.

Sustainability Trust appreciates and accepts donations of curtains and fabric all year and these can be dropped off at 8a Horner Street or at one of the locations below.

Help us keep Wellington homes warm this winter by donating:

  • Curtains
  • Curtain rails, hooks and loops
  • Suitable fabric (preferably in large quantities)
  • Curtain lining

Donated curtains will be lined, measured, and installed in households on low incomes and for people with health issues related to cold housing.
