Happy International Volunteer Day

2462.

That's how many sets of curtains the Wellington Curtain Bank crew delivered to 604 families in need across the Wellington region in the 2017/18 Financial Year.

How did they do it? Good question. It took 23 amazing volunteers and three part-time staff an incredible 3421 hours to collect, line, sew and sort through 2782 sets of pre-loved curtains.

That's almost $70,000 worth of time donated to keeping others homes warm.

Today is International Volunteer Day and we'd like to say a very special THANK YOU to the Wellington Curtain Bank crew.

You are a remarkable group of people and we are so grateful for everything you do.

Ngā mihi nui ki a koe !

We'd also like to take this opportunity to give a MASSIVE shout out to two local businesses: Lewis's Home Fabrics and The Intercontinental Wellington for donating linen and pre-loved curtains to the Curtain Bank.

Of course we could not do this without the ongoing support from Genesis Energy and made possible with the support of Wellington Community Trust and Lottery Grants Board.

If you would like to support our superstar vollies on their journey to keep homes across Wellington warm, then check out our new Donate a Drape initiative. All proceeds go to finding, lining, sewing and distributing custom-made curtains to families that need them.
